Drug and alcohol testing
Employers use drug and alcohol testing as one way to ensure that the workplace is as safe as possible for everyone. Employees who use drugs are negative components of the workforce. For example, impaired employees contribute to workplace accidents and injuries, production loss, absenteeism, and increased illness. Moreover, they cost employers billions of dollars a year in lost revenue.
Mobile drug testing offers a convenience factor for both employees and employers, alike. Employees are able to complete the test on site alleviating any pressure to be at the right place at the right time. Accordingly, employers are offered the assurance of an accurate test result and the knowledge that their employees will be back to work in minutes.
At USAMDT, we provide:
Alcohol testing
Alcohol consumption on the job is strictly forbidden. However, a staggering 67% of all substance abuse complaints involve alcohol. Employers include alcohol on their drug testing panels to nip this problem in the bud. Alcohol abuse on the job is reduced by as much as 51% within a two year period after alcohol testing is introduced in the workplace.
DOT drug testing
If regulated by the DOT, employers must adhere to strict regulations regarding drug testing. Currently, that entails an extended 5 panel urine drug test. The DOT drug test screens for the most commonly abused drugs in the workplace. They are amphetamines and methamphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, PCP, and opiates. The drug test also detects Ecstasy and heroin, as well as the synthetic opioids hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, and oxymorphone.
Incidentally, the DOT has requested that the testing method become the hair follicle drug test. Expect approval by each department as it works its way through the chain of command.
Workplace drug testing
Employers not regulated by the DOT understand the value of having a drug-free workplace. Employee drug testing is a great deterrent for people to refrain from ever using drugs. The value of employment is a strong force, as well. Subsequently, it’s just not worth the risk to most people. If not regulated by the DOT, employers are free to decide which drug panel they want to use. They also have the option of creating their own. In addition, they can also choose any testing method.
Urine drug test
The urine drug test is the most widely used employee drug test. For the most part that is due to the fact that employers just go with the flow. They mimic the DOT testing procedure. As a matter of fact, this testing method has become so common that if an employee hears the word drug test, they assume it will be a urine test. It is extremely accurate and cost-effective. Detection times vary depending on the drug taken.
Mouth swab drug test
Advances in technology make the mouth swab drug test more and more popular with employers and law enforcement, alike. Results are accurate. Furthermore, the shortened detection window of up to to 72 hours prior to the test makes them good for random or reasonable suspicion testing.
Hair follicle drug test
The hair follicle drug test is considered the least invasive of the three methods. The test consists of snipping a small cluster of hair (about 120 strands) from an inconspicuous area. Not only is it easy to administer, but the detection window is 90 days long!
Drug test panels
Our standard testing panels are the best in the business. If you want to customize a test panel to suit your specific requirements, that is no problem!
You can count on our results to be accurate every time.
Background Screening
Pre-employment background checks are another method employers use to assure a safe, secure work environment. An extensive background check screening identifies new hires who are prone to past behavior that would put your company and employees at risk. There are several different screening methods.
Criminal background checks
There are lots of reasons to do a criminal background check. For instance, pre-employment, choosing a childcare provider, or hiring a contractor are all valid reasons.
These days it’s more important than ever to make sure the people you surround yourself with are on the up and up! Our extensive criminal background check leaves no stone unturned for someone to hide their past. As a result, you will have the assurance that not only is the person well-qualified, they are trustworthy.
Employment verification
Speaking of trustworthy, it’s important to know you are hiring someone who is capable of performing the job. Padding one’s resume is okay if it means listing every single aspect of your qualifications. However, it is not good form to entirely misrepresent.
We provide employment verification so you know without a shadow of a doubt that your job applicant is ready to hit the ground running.
Social Security number trace
SSN traces search public records for information; such as marriage and divorce records, birth records, bankruptcy details, property records, judgments, liens, and aliases. In brief, employers are certainly not the only ones that benefit from such an extensive list of information!
Education verification
It’s beneficial for some employers to have a job applicant’s educational background verified. Conversely, this is a field on the application that could easily go undetected if someone is inclined to misrepresent themselves.
We’re on top of it for you.
Driving records
Whether you are required by the DOT or just want to ascertain that your employee will be safe with the company van, checking someone’s driving record has never been easier.
Our comprehensive check delivers all the information you need in a timely manner.
Training and support
We don’t just drug test! We want your drug free workplace to work for you. Our comprehensive training and support programs are tailored to your individual company. This approach engages employees and management from the start by uniting our team with yours.
DER training programs
The DOT inspector can walk in the door at any time. You want your Designated Employer Representative to be on top of their game.
We get that.
Our training course teaches your DER everything they need to know about the rules and regulations. By the way, there is a lot to learn! However, your DER’s confidence will shine as they perform their duties as outlined by DOT regulations (49 CFR Part 40) for drug and alcohol testing.
You don’t have to thank us. We’re happy to comply.
Employee Education programs
We customize your drug free employee education training to best fit your work environment. Our interactive course complies with both DOT and state requirements for drug and alcohol training. Namely, your employees will receive information in the following categories:
- Alcohol testing information
- Drug testing education
- Employee awareness training
- Supervisor awareness training
Supervisor training programs
When you complete your custom drug free workplace policy, we’re ready to train those in your company that are closest to your workforce. Your supervisors must know the policies inside and out. Our supervisor training programs include:
- A drug free policy
- The specific responsibilities that they incur in carrying out the company policy.
- How to recognize employees who are exhibiting reasonable suspicion and what comes next.
Consumer services
Our services are not limited to employee drug testing! We realize that people everywhere are affected by drug use and sometimes you need to be able to call someone on it. Whether you are a concerned parent, in charge of the athlete drug testing program, or responsible for a parolee on the road to a better life, we have what you need.
DNA testing
Sadly, sometimes the lines get blurred regarding a parent’s responsibility to their child. No matter what reason brought you to this point, DNA testing can be crucial in determining parental rights, child support, or even immigration status. We are here to help.
We offer the industry’s most accurate test. It is 100% accurate. Our results are accredited by AABB, CAP, NYDOH, NFSTC, and ISO.
In short, you need to know and we’re going to find out!
Parole drug testing
The thought of a random drug test is a strong deterrent for someone who’s recently been put on parole or probation. The knowledge that testing positive on a drug test has severe consequences speaks volumes.
If you are responsible for overseeing such testing, we can do the job. We have standard panel tests, or you are free to customize for a specific need.
Our tests are the best in the industry. We’re proud of that.
Student drug testing
Our statistic is a few years old and may be higher by now, but according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), nearly 27% of high schools use some form of drug testing. Acknowledging the fact that 36% of high school seniors reported smoking marijuana, schools that drug test may be on the right track.
We even provide on-site testing! This frees up the student from suffering any anxiety because they feel intimidated by strange surroundings. Coupled with the fact that your student will be back in class before they’ve missed out on anything that could make the test!
Child drug testing
The thought of your child getting caught up in a life bound to drugs and alcohol is terrifying for a parent. Our minds go straight to the worst of the “what if’s,” don’t they?
We can ease your mind. Our drug tests yield extremely accurate results, first time, every time. Hopefully, though, the first time gets the point across. We’ll keep hoping for that!
Providing peace of mind
Whether you are an employer seeking the safest possible workplace, a parent fighting for their child, or a student administrator or athletic director, drug tests play an important role in knowing all is well with your world and in the worlds of those around you.
Here, at USAMDT, we look forward to playing a small part that can have a lasting impact on your life.
We wish you well.
