After developing your custom drug-free workplace policy, USAMDT works with your organization to train the individuals closest to your workforce. If your drug-free program is going to be successful, supervisors must have in-depth knowledge of every aspect of your drug-free workplace policy and the role they play in its execution.
Training is critical because supervisors are the front line of defense in every drug-free workplace program. They’re responsible for observing, reporting, and initiating reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. When they feel confident in the part they play in maintaining a drug-free workplace, it helps them follow through when tough situations arise. They will know how to intervene when necessary.
Our supervisor training consists of:
- A drug-free workplace policy
- The supervisor’s specific responsibilities in executing your policy
- How to recognize and deal with employees who have job performance issues that may be related to drugs and/or alcohol
Our instructors know the material inside and out and engage their students from the moment class begins. Your management personnel comes away from the class understanding the ins and outs of all your drug-free policies and procedures. They will know the effects of substance abuse on job performance, work safety, and health and how to spot potential behaviors that can identify drug use on the job.
If you’ve operated a drug-free workplace for a while now, maybe it’s time to schedule a refresher course. It’s a good idea to do that every year or so because it reiterates the importance of spotting drug use in the workplace. It also reinforces the specific steps to take that, when followed explicitly, will keep your company in good standing should a disgruntled employee who popped positive on a drug test try and cause problems somewhere down the road.
