Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse Results
According to the latest data from the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, drug use among commercial truck drivers is at its highest level since 2019 when the federal repository was set up. Positive drug tests & refusals to test that were reported in the clearinghouse last year have increased to 18% – almost doubling the previous year – and marijuana violations have increased the most. Even though more positive drug tests are being reported, the data shows that more drivers are getting rehabilitated and reentering the trucking workforce, too. Read the full story here. Fentanyl & Oral Fluid Drug Testing
Did you know that federal drug regulators could soon announce plans to add fentanyl to a drug testing panel? According to a spokesperson from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), if oral fluid testing becomes an accepted method by the DOT, HHS expects to add fentanyl to the testing panel as early as the first quarter of 2023, with an implementation date in the second quarter.
