Fingerprinting has been used as a means of identification for over two thousand years. Over the past century, the fingerprinting process has become more sophisticated, more accurate, and it has been put to many more uses. It has withstood the test of time as the primary method of identifying and tracking criminals, and today it is used to track and catalog even non-criminals where extra scrutiny is necessary, such as finance, law enforcement, and child care.
Live scan fingerprinting, which is the most common form of fingerprinting today, is the process of taking fingerprints digitally on a computer without using ink. The digitized prints are transmitted to the appropriate government agency and a criminal background check is completed.
Fingerprinting services are currently available in Florida and Ohio.
