Employee drug testing is a crucial part of any company. That is because this testing allows businesses to tell whether or not their employees are clean and sober, as that is necessary to be both efficient and effective at the workplace. Three of the most popular ways drug tests are conducted are through the urine, oral fluid and hair.
Urinalysis is the most common type of drug test administered, as it is considered one of the most thorough and reliable sources of information. These urine drug tests kits have been administered for well over 30 years, so it has been proven over the years that these tests are an accurate way of determining if there are drugs in the system. Countless drugs are picked up in urine tests including marijuana, PCP, ecstasy and heroin.
Then, there is oral fluid testing. Oral fluid testing is best for those looking for a gender-neutral, easy way to find out if there are drugs in an individual’s body. This type of testing checks for the abuse of all sorts of drugs like cocaine, opiates, barbiturates and methadone. Since oral fluid testing is conducted directly to the person, there is no chance of the sample being at all tampered with. The testing can be performed in any location.
Lastly, there is hair testing which can detect drugs like opiates, cocaine and methamphetamine. Typically, those sort of drugs leave the body in a short amount of time and therefore do not show up in urine samples 72 hours after being ingested. With hair testing, though, these drugs are picked up even 90 days after being used. Hair testing works by analyzing the drugs found inside the hair-shaft itself. Here, there is no chance of delaying the testing, making it a prime way of testing for drugs.
