Once you contact us to enroll in the program, we get your company entered into our system. Then we arrange training for your employee to become a certified specimen collector. USAMDT is a recognized authority in the industry. We’ve literally done millions of employee drug tests and will teach your employee all the ins and outs of the specimen collector’s position. Because we operate nationwide, we stay abreast of the drug testing laws in all 50 states ensuring your company is in compliance with the laws in your state.
After the training is completed, you determine which method—or methods—you will use and the drugs you want us to place on your company test. Then, just place your order. We pack your box as soon as we have your company’s ongoing order information entered in our system. Your order will include any customized paperwork and forms needed for documentation.
As your tests are submitted for testing, we automatically renew your inventory.
What about instant test methods?
Instant result test methods automatically reveal a positive or negative result. They’re a great option for small business owners because there are no laboratory costs involved. Once your employee tests negative, you have your customized company form to document the result in-house and that’s that.
Should a positive result occur, reach out and we’ll have the specimen retested at a SAMHSA approved laboratory. If the specimen tests positive at the lab, you can proceed with your company’s protocol without worrying about having sufficient evidence should the employee lawyer up to protest the test result.
If you choose to use an instant test method, we’ve set up an easy notification process to keep your inventory stocked. There’s never a worry of running short of supplies. Your collector merely needs to contact us by popping online or giving us a quick call to reorder test kits and other supplies.
Methods used for drug testing
There are three employee drug testing methods to choose from.
Urine drug tests
Still the most widely used drug testing method, urine drug tests are accurate and the least expensive test method. Unless an observed test is required, employees are escorted to a restroom and allowed privacy, which leaves the risk of tampering occurring.
Oral fluid tests
Otherwise known as the mouth swab test, these tests are considered the least invasive. The collection specialist places a mouth swab containing the test panels into the employee’s mouth, and they are asked to keep it there until the swab is saturated with saliva. It usually takes between five and seven minutes.
Hair follicle test
Drug metabolites spread throughout the body awaiting excretion. Some find their way to the hair follicle. Then, they do leave the body, but don’t go far. They grow out into the center of the hair shaft, leaving a permanent record of drug use.
The hair follicle test is quick and noninvasive. The collection specialist gathers a small section of hair from a discreet area and snips it close to the scalp. The test looks back at the past 90 days, but it’s technically possible to go back further depending on the length of hair tested. The standard test length is one and a half inches.
