Savvy business owners realize the positive impact a drug-free workplace has on their business. Employee drug testing isn’t cheap, though. Moreover, when you figure in the drop in production due to employees traveling to the test, add the wait time after they arrive, and travel time back, it could take a sizeable chunk out of your operating budget. This is especially true for smaller companies and franchises. If you fall into one of these categories, our self-service program, Drug Testing in a Box, could be your answer!
Seriously.
Our Drug Testing in a Box program could cut your employee drug testing costs by as much as 50%. Not to mention cutting your losses on travel and wait times.
How does this program work?
The first step in getting your company set up for self-service employee drug testing is to train your collector. We are a training authority when it comes to drug testing. We’ve done millions of them—literally. No worries about complying with any state drug testing laws either. USAMDT is on top of it because we operate in every state in the nation.
No matter whether you employ the safety-sensitive or general workforce, our training program is in-depth, yet engaging. Your new collection specialist will be confident in their skills and ready to begin drug testing your workforce.
As soon as your Drug Testing in a Box arrives, that is.
You need to place your ongoing order next. Once received, we pack your box with customized paperwork and forms to meet your business needs. Drug test kits go in with the order, too, of course. If you didn’t decide which test—or combination thereof—you plan to use before your employee took the Collection Specialist course, it’s time to do that now.
Drug testing methods
Employers have three drug testing methods to choose from.
They are:
- Urine drug tests—Still the most widely used drug testing method, these tests are accurate and the least expensive test method. Unless an observed test is required, employees are escorted to a restroom and allowed privacy, which leaves the risk of tampering occurring.
- Oral fluid tests—Otherwise known as the mouth swab test, these tests are considered noninvasive. The collection specialist places a mouth swab containing the test panels into the employee’s mouth, and they are asked to keep it there until the swab is saturated with saliva. It usually takes between five and seven minutes.
- Hair follicle test—Drug metabolites are found in the hair follicle to await excretion from the body. They leave the body, but don’t go far. They grow out into the center of the hair shaft, leaving a permanent record of drug use. This test is considered the least invasive drug test. The collection specialist gathers a small section of hair and snips it close to the scalp. The test looks back at the past 90 days, but it’s technically possible to go back further depending on the length of hair tested. The standard test length is one and a half inches.
Your order is ongoing
Once your supplies are received, we automatically renew your inventory as the tests are submitted for testing.
We’ll note that the only instance where that isn’t the case is if you order instant test methods that automatically show the result. Small businesses, especially, can benefit from this type of drug testing program. It cuts costs even further because once a negative result is determined, all that’s left to do is document it in-house. However, in this scenario, there isn’t an outgoing record that tests are being used. In that case, your specialist just needs to pop online or pick up the phone and easily reorder your testing supplies.
If one of the instant tests yields a positive result, you can contact us to have the sample retested at a lab to ensure the result is, indeed, positive before following through with termination.
Other benefits received
We’ve explained that our Drug Testing in a Box program is very cost-effective. You’ll also enjoy additional benefits. For instance, should a problem or question arise, we’re only a phone call away. Our team is always ready to help you resolve the issue.
Did an employee test positive for drug use, and you are letting them go? Or perhaps there’s been an accident on the job site or at the workplace. We have a team of legal experts to ensure that you’re not crossing any lines that would put your company at risk of getting dragged into a costly lawsuit.
Small business owners and franchises can feel confident about their entire drug testing program because everything is covered. Becoming a member of our Drug Testing in a Box program allows you to provide self-service employee drug testing on-site. It greatly reduces your employee drug testing costs while offering you constant support and overseeing any unforeseen legal issues with positive test results. We ensure you have a defensible claim should a disgruntled employee try and drag you into court.
If this sounds like a positive plan for your drug-free program, let’s talk!
